GA’s Call to Demand Justice for Victims of Unit 731 GA has written a letter on February 2, 2002 to demand a fair ruling from the judges of the pending lawsuit filed by 180 victims of Unit 731 in Japan and calls for worldwide members and supporters to do the same. Final testimony of this lawsuit was given in the Tokyo Court on December 26 of 2001 while the court will reconvene again on August 27, 2002 to render judgment. Symposium: Can Japan Lead? Confronting Japan’s
War Memory Problem, April 22, 2002. The Symposium will be held at the University of San Francisco’s Lone Mountain campus to call the world’s attention to Japan’s unresolved wartime issues on the eve of the 50th anniversary of Japan’s independence as a sovereign nation following the end of postwar occupation. Legislative Act "Promotion of Resolution for Issues
Concerning Victims of Wartime Sexual Coercion" re-introduced in the Japanese
Diet on November 14, 2001. The Honorable Shoji Motooka and members of three opposition parties took the lead in this initiative. The Global Alliance for Preserving the History of WW II in Asia (GA), the International Fellowship of Reconciliation, the Korean Council for the Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan and other supporting groups in the victimized countries have all written to support the re-introduction of this bill.
